I remember one or two years ago there was a big case about a gang rape that happened during a high school dance in Richmond, CA. Any news on that? Please tell me they all got the highest sentences possible...

Did a bit of research, looks like the trial is set for September 4. Nearly three years after the incident... justice sure likes to drag its feet in Kalifornia:

Defendants in Richmond gang rape case plead not guilty | Bay City News | Bay Area | San Francisco Examiner

The elder of the DC snipers was executed 7 years after they were caught (and convicted a year after they were caught)... it's been 3 years since this brutal rape occurred and they haven't even started the trial yet??

Yeah but HOW MANY people were involved, that's probably the key to why it's taking so long..people wanting deals and all the different lawyers and such

Ummm...yeah we all know that already or should. I know innocent people who are scared and backed into a corner to make a plea, when it's a he said, she said case, and no other evidence...and I know people who I KNOW are guilty and who have admitted it, that are let to walk.

You have the right to a speedy trial as a defendant where the court date is set much sooner than that. But also as a defendant that is not in your best interests and is usually waved in order to have more time to come up with the best defense. Adversarial process.

I don't get why the one guy only gets 8 years? That is messed up. Whats the difference between what he did and the others did?

What also is weird is no one said they saw the 44 year old there...but he was by DNA evidence. What happened?

No, it just doesn't work the way you want it too.

Honestly, I've had my fill of people who try to judge a whole system by one or two high profile cases. Grow up. Life is more complicated than a game of checkers.

I've seen more than my fair share of the in-justice system and how it works

I totally expected them to walk, either completely or with light sentences. Given that they're still walking around, I guess the other convicts up there are too scared to hand out street justice too. Oh well.
