I just stayed at a Microtel in Marion, IA (a suburb of Cedar Rapids) last weekend and they had a waffle maker that you could use!

This. My hotel stays since May, it's been pretty obvious that they're short staffed. The norm is one person at the desk and cleaning staff for 8 hours. Nobody else. Room maintenance is way off. Room cleanliness has dropped off. The overnight desk staff person stocks breakfast bags overnight.
