I had never though about "stayed in", so I have to reconstruct that.

The only states/provinces I can't remember sleeping overnight in are Connecticut, New Hampshire or DC. Some of them, I camped in, so I don't think I ever slept indoors in Delaware, Vermont, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island. I've driven through all of them, except Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada's northern territories.

One interesting thing to count, is how many states you have been inside someone's private home for a social visit (not counting for business purpose). I have a whopping 20 states in which I've never been invited inside someone's home. I'll have to work on my social skills.

Let's see ... The states where I've actually been in someone's personal home includes:

CaliFUNia of course
Texas: My aunt and cousin's home
Louisiana: My uncle's home
Floridah: a friend's home

That's about it for me as I haven't visited that many states.

For those who are not American or not even living in the US, I wonder how many states have those people have been to.

I have been to only 4 states in America. I have been to more countries in Europe than States in US. And I have been to 5 Provinces in Canada

31 so far - if you count DC as an entity that would bump it +1

As for how many of those where I've stayed at someones private residence, the list would shrink quite a bit

NY, PA, NJ, FL, NM, AZ, CA, MN, CO

When I lived in DE I went to private residences, but always slept back at my own place ... living in MN I often would crash at friends homes ... spent a couple days in WI, but was either in a motel or tent when staying over there, will stay with relatives on a visit this summer at their cabin though

Family in OH, but I always have stayed in a hotel although I spend 90% of my time at their place

There have been mornings I've woken up in NJ without being fully sure of how I got there.......
