France has held the crown for a long time now. But the number of international visitors to China has skyrocketed in the past few years. It's no wonder why. It's such a huge country with so much to see, do and experience. I think as surrounding Asian countries get wealthier they'll start visiting China, as Europeans visit France. A lot more Westerners are also interested in China, Chinese culture and learning Chinese as well as teaching English in China. I see this happening within maybe 5 years.
Well China is now open to international tourists which it wasn't in the past. China is also becoming a world economy power. So it makes sense that people want to learn more about it including learning Chinese.
The crown used to be held by the USA and Canada, visiting each other. But childish and psychotic fear of bogeymen has pretty well put the kabosh on that.

Terrorists don't exist, the best thing we can do is lower security and expect nothing to happen to us, then when it does all we have to do is blame the president and that makes it all go away.
China wants to be the most dominant country in the world. Besides your money, they welcome everyone to visit so they can pick your brain finding as much information about everything that they can get out of you. And they do this very subtly. We experienced that when we were in China a few years ago.

Weird, what did they do, I didn't experience any of that when I went.
We were followed everywhere we went. We were stopped at many places and had personal questions asked. We had our hotel laptop and other materials in our room gone through. We had people come to our room to talk about forbidden subjects such as politics in the USA, how things were made etc, it was a lot of nosy stuff to us.

Were you there on holiday or some other business? Maybe they had reason to be suspicious? Of the been people who have mean to China not one I've met has had any experience like that.

Okay I'll bite... what in the world are you talking about? My skepticism meter just pegged at 11.
