the FJ I had back in WI got 18-19 for an avg ( but keeping it 65/70 on hiway, much higher and it's a huge wall against the wind ). Pulling my boat, dropped to about 15.5 avg. All the while using premium as "required". Then premium hit over 4 bucks a gallon.....
Also, i would doubt one would find a FJ with only 2wd, unless in south they are more common ( though every one i've seen in SC is 4wd also ).
It's a great overall vehicle, but not sure on comparing it to a 2wd pickup though.
I have an FJ and when I drive easy on the gas I get 20-21 mpg on the highway. The Silverado hybrid will match those numbers only. I had a GMC which is the same as the Silverado and the mileage was not even close. Also Toyota came out with a notice regarding the type of fuel to be used. The sticker on the fuel door states "premium", but that was due to what Toyota tested the truck with. The FJ like any other car has knock sensor and will run fine on lower octane fuels.
From reading this thread the fuel consumption seems to be similiar.
Have you looked into what the differences in insurance costs might be? If money is a concern that is something to consider prior to making your decision.
While not being the most practical choice, FJ's are FUN as HECK to drive as long as you get the stick.
I ALMOST bought one but went with a 4Runner instead...as much as I love my 4Runner I still wonder how the FJ would have worked out.
Thanx all
I thought that since FJ is a TOYOTA and made in Japan, it would be more economic
usually Japanese cars do not take that much gas, I mean compared to the American cars especially GMC and Chevy
sorry I have no experience in cars and some terms used like EPA....
I have a Nissan Altima 2009 but since i'm moving 2 Colorado, I thought of buying FJ but was wondering about gas! am I going 2 be broke by the end of the first week each month? I was excited that Toyota made this car, but now I'm not sure!!
