when i moved here, one of the things i missed most was tex-mex food.... with what-a-burger a close second..... mmmm mmmm..... but over the last decade or so, we have had a few decent tex-mex places open and succeed, much to my delight......

now that just leaves what-a-burger to be sorely missed......

They're all over Texas, but it's certainly a favorite of many!

Still time to vote in our poll. By the way, in case you're wondering, what I meant by "middle-of-the-road" decor was basically any place that is nice but a reasonable and inexpensive eatery, between hole-in-the-wall and fine dining (The Black-Eyed Pea and Olive Garden are two places that come to mind). Sorry for the lack of a better term.

One of my favorites is the Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap. They've got the best steak I believe I've ever had since I've been in Texas. I've even ordered the peppered beef tenderloin to have at home. If you haven't tried it yet, you should.

Maybe we can start a new restaurant out of that, Cathy. Sometimes niche themes are a big hit. It's an idea.
