Looking at this data, I would say that Tyler has the best outlook for growth. Then Lubbock with pretty steady growth. Then Waco. Then Odessa as a wild card. Odessa might outgrow them, but it could just as easily go bust.

Also, wow, look at 2000 to 2001. What a tough year for everyone, especially Odessa.

Yeah, but Odessa's growth, or lack thereof, is totally dependent upon the oil business. When the oil patch is booming, so is Odessa. When it's in the tank....so is Odessa.

That's true, but all cities are dependent on some business(es), so it's it not really a profound observation.

Waco isn't dependent on a business.

Just curious: Why is a smiley face placed next the sentence over Odessa being in the tank? Are you rejoicing over a lack of growth??

Baylor is not what is attracting people to move here. It does help bring in businesses though.

Lol. There is not a snowballs chance in hell that Corpus Christi MSA is going to grow 28% from 2000-2020. It would be amazing to see the metro grow even 5% in that time span!

Agree, almost a useless chart. Chart came out in 2006, Tyler had already grown at least 12% at the time of their study, not the projected 17% for the entire 20year period. How could they miss that much at the date they publish their graph?

Corpus growing faster than San Antonio? San Antonio is one of the fastest growing, city wise and metro wise.

Lol CC has the second slowest growth rate in TX behind Witchita Falls. That is because Witchita Falls is declining. This applies to cities over 75,000.
