I'm very disspaointed about the bad rap Bville gets in these threads. There is sooo much racism and misunderstandings about our area. So to help our city image, I have begun posting pics of Brownsville. I'll keep adding more volumes as DT was the biggest one. Dont think that DT is all of Bville, it's not.

Next time I'm going to post aerials, pics of Matamoros (Mex. city across from Brownsville), SPI and others. It's time to dispell those who write negative publicity about the border region.

Thx for the comments txsizzler!

Good luck on changing some peoples' minds on this forum. There seems to be a kabala of posters who apparently have nothing better to do than bad mouth South Texas. Apparently, they are superior to us South Texans

It appears so but I'm willing to try through pictures. I know I won't change those that already are racists towards us but I hope to change those who still have an open mind.

Like any city in the world, you will either hate it or love it with few inbetweens. My clients are from all over the world and you should hear the bad comments they make (over 50%) about the US and it's culture. It's a culture shock to them (just liek you hear comments about our area) and dissapointed by the hatred and racism that exists in the US.

This is why the US doesn't progress beyond it's border intellectually, mathematically, culturally, etc...

This is just one small way of helping to clear my city's name...Brownsville, On the Border, By the Sea.

I would like to visit Brownsville, it looks like a very nice place and I don't understand why more retirees do not move to the area(or am I wrong), I have heard bad things about the city, but it's location is such a good one-a lot of folks are missing the financial boat in locating there. I have been to Texas several times, but not this far south. I read where a lot of folks bash southern Texas, is this because of crime? Is it because of the population of Hispanics here-I mean, it is next to Mexico and was once part of it. I personally like the way the buildings in Brownsville have both an American and Mexican influence-it is vastly different than anything I have seen in this country. To me, a naive northern southerner(from Maryland-Virginia region), I have always found Texas-and all it's people very nice. I have met mixed race folks, hispanic folks, black folks and white folks and all share one common bond-they are proud of their state. So those who bash their state I say this-you have a place which on it's own could be one of the most prosperous places in the western hemisphere-why? Because the culture in Texas is one of rugged individualism which is very impressive in a day and age where everyone seems to blame their troubles on everyone else. Brownsville could and should exceed San Antonio as a drawing place for tourism and for living. Uplift, upgrade and deal with the crime there, and over in Matamoros-the economic benefit would be worth it to both nations and their people. Ok-my idealism may seem quaint-but life is too short to hate people for being lighter or darker than you are. As for the language thing, English should stay the official language of Brownsville for government and schools, but a knowledge of Spanish would be the same as in Europe where Germans know french and the french know german. The same is true across the border-teach English, but Spanish is the language of their government. Okay-i will stop dreaming we all could really get along and would likely enjoy hanging out with each other.

I think it has to do more with the valley culture. a lot of people don't like it.

the RGV both on the u.s. side and the mexican side were secluded from mexico and the united states forever, so the culture sort of developed seperate from them.

there was even a movement about 100 years ago for the whole area to secede from both countries.
