I would appreciate it SOO much if i could get some info on Hallsville. I understand the school system is wonderful that is why we are lookin in that area... but we have a home to sell in Tulsa so for the moment we are going to rent an apt./condo/home... and i havent a clue how to start looking. Is it a nice location to raise 3 kids under the age of 8?

thank you!

Hallsville...is nice. Very rural. Longview is close enough to do some good shopping and other things. In fact I prefer to shop the Target in Longview vs. Tyler. You might have a little trouble finding good rental property....not a lot of options. I would start with Real Estate Listings, Homes for Sale and Rental Property Listings – REALTOR.com® and put in rental property for your search. Welcome to Texas!

Depending on what your interpretation of "a nice location" is, Hallsville may be just what you're looking for, or may be terribly lacking in facilities and amenities. Hallsville has a great school system, much admired throughout the area, and consistently top ranked. So if a top notch school overrides every other factor, then Hallsville is for you. Community spirit is very strong here and people are very supportive and protective of their community, but not everyone is suited for life in the "big city" of Hallsville. There are no malls or even large shopping centers in Hallsville. No movie theater, no new car dealerships, no hospital, and a very limited choice of restaurants. Dairy Queen, anyone? Longview is the closest city with the most amenities, about 10 -15 minutes west. Marshall is would be next choice, about 15 minutes east. So if you are fairly self sufficient, don't eat out every meal, can live without the convenience of shoppng centers around the corner, and can keep your kids occupied, then Hallsville is a good choice. Choice home/apt rentals in Hallsville are few and far between, but they are out there. Check the Longview News Journal, Craigs List, and Realtor.com.
