The Texas Gulf plain is noticably hotter than the rest of the Gulf south, and with the same humidity. However that's ok for me. I prefer a beach getup year-round.
oddly enough you could pay me more money, and I would appreciate a place, the more money (that I was able to keep above expenses) that I made, the more I could tolerate it. I hated AZ until I started making a comfortable living. I LOVE Oregon and WA but I cant seem to find a place to pay enough to make it comfortable.

I was born and raised in North Texas. We did have some cold weather and occasionally a snowfall or 2 during the winters. I also lived in Michigan and I loved it there! I would love to live there again.
I have lived outside of Houston for the past 5 years and I hate the weather here. It is so hot and humid, all the time.
We are finally getting out of here and moving to Pennsylvania. I have never been there (this is a job transfer,) but am really excited about it.
Back to the cold and snow! For us, this is a dream come true.
Bye bye Houston!

Good luck with that move Stephanie! It is 19 degrees here today in Pittsburgh with a wind chill of 7 degrees. I just can't get warm today. I have fuzzy socks on, a turtle neck, Steeler jersey (required on Sundays here in the 'Burgh ) and thermal PJ bottoms!! PLUS, I'm wrapped in a fleece blanket trying to stay warm. I have my thermostat turned way up today-- I am not looking forward to this months heating bill. I wish this house would sell!
Oh, it was even too cold for the squirrels last night--I heard them up in my attic!

I know it gets very hot and humid down there, but not as bad as Galveston! I used to live in Galveston.
Well, I hope your house sells soon so you can come on down to the great southwest..!!

I usually avoid Austin in the summer.....and this last summer there was really bad, day after day of over 100 degrees south of Austin.

But you'll love the other seasons, I think!

If you are a native texan or someone from the south that has mild winters like Houston and have moved some where with a cold winter I would like to know if you ever adapted to it or if you just moved back to some place warm.
born and raised in houston and moved here in 1986.... anyone around back then will know why......

the first few years were fine.... didn't mind the cold, enjoyed the snow.... it was DIFFERENT......

and then...... the novelty wore off.... and i cannot wait to come back home, but more likely to south texas .....

i think that denver would likely be much more tolerable than the midwest has turned out to be .... for what its worth.....

durned real estate market here.....

Thank you!
Okay, that does sound cold. I am a little worried about our heating bills, but I don't think they will be any higher than our A/C bills are here.
We like to keep the house COLD in the summer - can't stand the heat!
I do hope you get to move soon. Too bad we are going to be in different areas of the states, I would say let's trade houses.

Wouldn't that be ideal -- trading houses?!?!? Too bad we live in different areas. Do you have family up here?

No, unfortunately not. That is going to be the hard part, leaving all our family here in Texas (on both sides.)
My mother-in-law is so upset we are moving, we had a pretty bad argument over the phone (our first one,) and she is originally from PA! She keeps telling me how bad it is there, the economy, the weather, the job market, the people. I told her I am sick of all the negative feedback. Every state has its own problems; I think this will be a great move for my family!
