And then, frequently, someone comes along and chides the newbie for not looking up all the old threads on the topic, or at the very least tells them they should now go do that.

Like I said, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

You have to be kidding. My uncle lives in Buffalo and makes fun of the accents there when he visits. Having visted him over the eyars I would think you would think about sonething other than the accents of others far away from you.

To me it seems preferable to start an entirely new discussion in the form of a new thread, even if the new thread is covering a topic that has already been covered, perhaps by multiple threads over the years. Actually, that happens all the time on more mundane topics like asking about school districts, real estate developments, etc.
Someone gets it.

Indeed. The thread title is simply too irresistibly dumb for most to ignore.

uuughhhh, Chicago's nose hole sounds are the worst!!!! South Carolina's is my favorite, its strong but not too twangy. I do not think Texans sound abnoxious at all, but then again, I am from Appalachia and live in LA

and whatever accent matthew mcaunahey (however his name is spelled)....I HATE his accent, he sounds so gross and over exagerated. But maybe that is because he is trying so hard and is just gross himself, so i guess that doesnt count

I live in Texas, and I make fun of the accents! But it doesn't mean I dislike them.
