I read somewhere that 1 out of ever 4 people in Houston was born in another country
it really seems that way when you live here and hear 5 different languages everyday

Its quite easy to see who moves to all the places. Between 2010-2019:

By race/ethnicity

Dallas/Fort Worth
Hispanic: 451,038
Black: 256,956
Asian: 211,677
White: 191,014

Houston
Hispanic: 564,391
Black: 181,275
Asian: 168,903
White: 110,721

Seattle/Tacoma
Asian: 185,405
White: 118,564
Hispanic: 101,407
Black: 50,229

Denver
White: 199,271
Hispanic: 113,731
Asian: 32,876
Black: 29,574

San Antonio
Hispanic: 251,363
White: 69,273
Black: 29,204
Asian: 19,641

Austin
White: 206,330
Hispanic: 185,855
Asian: 47,233
Black: 30,466

We can see that DFW is easily the most balanced of this bunch and honestly its the single most balanced in the country in this metric.

As for who is moving from where, between 2010-2019:

International Growth
Houston - 331,435
Dallas/Fort Worth - 322,687
Seattle/Tacoma - 204,324
Austin - 103,391
Denver - 36,275
San Antonio - 27,022

Domestic Growth (born in another state only)
Dallas/Fort Worth - 287,458
Denver - 189,338
Austin - 187,719
Seattle/Tacoma - 140,653
San Antonio - 135,948
Houston - 133,597

No one really immigrates from other countries to Denver. We depend on it.

Any way we can find out how much of the Hispanic/Asian migration is domestic vs international?
The difference between Houston and Dallas in international growth is really not that much, so that probably means Dallas is growing much faster than Houston. That is fine as I think Houston is already pretty crowded.

Yes there is a way.

Hispanic international growth 2010-2019
Houston - 145,698
Dallas/Fort Worth - 96,069
San Antonio - 31,076
Austin - 29,239

Asian international growth 2010-2019
Dallas/Fort Worth - 165,998
Houston - 103,668
Austin - 39,253
San Antonio - 21,733

Africa international growth 2010-2019
Houston - 62,252
Dallas/Fort Worth - 58,363
Austin - 8,315
San Antonio - 2,092

Europe international growth 2010-2019
Houston - 6,242
Austin - 6,188
Dallas/Fort Worth - 2,864
San Antonio - 516

So much of the Asian Growth is international but Hispanic growth is largely domestic. Trend is the same across the country.

Why just those cities? Is the data source you are using only looking at those particular cities? I would have expected to see Atlanta, NYC, Miami, Phoenix, and a few others on the list for both domestic and international migration as well.

Those were just the cities being talked about so I listed them. I broke them down from data.census.gov.

Makes sense. Weather is nice in CA, so they'll want to hang out there.

For all the people fleeing, there are new ones coming in looking for work.

Well that’s on you, then.

Some people care about the governing of their city/county/state/country, and want serious, responsible policies. Thanks to people like you, though, we’re having to swim upstream, just to have a quality discussion about an issue.

If you don’t see a purpose, DON’T VOTE. In fact, why are you even here, if there’s no purpose to politics?

California population declined by over 182,000 from 2020 to 2021 after near stagnation from 2016 to 2020.

California also lost a US Congressional seat.

New York State lost a congressional seat because they could not come up with 89 people! NYC was the hardest hit in the U.S. with the Coronavirus.

I don't trust the current Census data due to the pandemic emergency introducing errors with all the daily deaths and quarantining/social distancing. The census definitely needs to be re-done next year!
