That part is true.. ..I still feel its a long shot at best overall though, if it did happen I sure hope they're ready to build more highways, that will be a major hurdle in that region. Imagine MoPac extending all the way to 1604

I'd say it's more like Cincinnati-Dayton along I-75 than Chicago-Milwaukee.

Granted, the Austin-San Antonio corridor is probably 10-20 years behind where Cincinnati-Dayton is now.

If Austin keeps growing like it's going and San Antonio continues to expand North (I eventually expect the Southern portion to fill out.
Temple-Killeen is also growing at a decent 6,000 a year clip.
We could see a potential I-35 corridor by 2040 of.
McLennan- 318,000
Bell- 502,000
Williamson- 1,100,000
Travis- 1,729,000
Caldwell- 160,000
Hays- 540,000
Comal- 387,000
Guadalupe County- 312,000
Bexar- 2,600,000

Take in mind this is with growth rates continuing to decrease in every county, largely due to the aging American population, slowing growth.

This SA-Austin-Killeen-Waco-Round Rock corridor would have
7.8 million people along the corridor, maybe 8.3 million in both MSAs + Waco + Temple. Houston and Dallas would both be at the cusp of 10,000,000 and still bigger than the corridor.

According to the estimates out yesterday, Dallas and Houston metros have 14,848,616 combined growing at 210,000 a year.

While the other group comes in at 5,631,493 growing by 117,213. The only two places with growth in this group is San Antonio and Austin.

San Antonio-Austin is much, MUCH bigger than Cincinnati-Dayton. Dayton is tiny in comparison to either San Antonio or Austin.

I meant in terms of similar development patterns between the two cities, not size.

But if we're going to nitpick size, we can also say the Milwaukee-Chicago corridor is much MUCH bigger than San Antonio-Austin corridor, and thus is also not a good comparison.

True, but I was also inferring development patterns between the two and not the actual sizes of the metro's themselves. Infact it would actually strengthen my point given those are much larger metro's which developed and matured much earlier in history but the development between the two never matured to a CSA...although it still feels suburban & exhurban between the two along I-94 until you go too far west of it.
