My kids and I are not going outside unless it's to the park to allow them to ride their bikes on the pathway- no playground for them, or we use our backyard. They're 9 and 10 and it's been hard for them to not have their daily routine of school and friends. It's been hard for me, too, not going to work (I work at a preschool while they're at school) and also having a routine. We all do better with routines. My husband is still going to work and trying to distance himself as much as possible and just be extra cautious. He works on industrial machines and a lot of the time his companion for the day is a machine or his truck, so that helps.

I did take the kids with me to a small store in town to buy some more milk and they just stayed locked in our truck. I've been using gloves to touch things if I'm out and have been wiping everything down as we bring it home. This is a nightmare that NEEDS to be over, as I'm not sure people can handle being alone for much longer than 2-3 weeks. We may pretend that we'd rather be on our phones than with each other but lemme tell ya, now that the option to be with family, friends, co-workers and just the general public is gone, we're all going to crazy.

I have a 13-year-old and 9 year old. When I run to the store I leave them at home with strict instructions. I'm trying to limit my time out and get all necessary errands done as well as stockpile food and necessities so we can shelter in place if necessary. My kids only leave the house to bicycle around the neighborhood, go jogging (13 year-old) or play in the backyard. Luckily, the neighborhood has been pretty quiet so I'm not worried about social distance. We are setting up Zoom and Skype so they can have virtual get-togethers with friends.

Retired here. We have been doing this long before the virus. We just as soon stay home and not deal with traffic, etc.

Use your imagination. I have a friend who is hosting a virtual happy hour this week, using skype. Can your kids do that with their friends - skype TV parties or "sleepovers" for example? Try homeschooling while the kids are home - pick topics they enjoy and have them research and write about them. With the technology available to most people in the US, there is no need to actually be alone. You just can't physically touch but you can virtually touch.

OMG, seriously?? Yes, I locked my kids in my trunk Read what I wrote- in our TRUCK. They sat there for 4 minutes (I timed it) and just waited. At this point, though, a trunk would probably be safer for them.

Meh. Not a whole lot has changed with me. I'm actually kind of happy. Dont have to pay tolls, dont have to get up for the 9x5 grind, job working me remote and a light work load. Plenty of YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, online gaming...

... but admittedly I am hoping this doesnt last for very long.

We, a retired 70s couple, are well stocked most of the time anyway, so only needed one careful trip to HEB to pick up a few items we were short of. No crowd at all this afternoon, and we wore the safety gloves to pick put the items to put in our wiped clean cart. Didn’t get close to anyone, but saw a neighbor who wanted to chat- he kept getting closer, so I kept moving back. He didn’t have a clue.
Unloaded the groceries, wiping everything down along with the countertops, then tossed the plastic sacks in the recycle sack. Washed up well and changed clothes.

We will be at home for two months with trips out only to go to the pharmacy as needed for meds. Outdoors we can drive to a park to walk the hike & bike trails or else use the home treadmill & recumbent exercise bike. Lots of books to read, dvr’d programs, spring cleaning around the house... the usual routine.

Pick up the mail from the communal boxes, spray it all on the garage floor to dry before opening.

Nobody gets in the house, not even family. Sons can leave stuff at the door and it’ll be wiped down before being brought in. Cancelled our family Easter dinner which is sad.
