If you are really looking for a small town with lots of trees and really good schools for the kids than east texas is your place. I am in my 30's also. I was raised in south texas right by the coast but 8 yrs ago we moved to a little town called Liberty City. I love it. My kids love the schools. They are really small schools. We are growing a little.. We finally got a sonic lol.... We have a small grocery store but walmart is only 10 minutes away in kilgore. We are in between kilgore and longview but not too far from tyler. If you are looking for a good area, Liberty City is a great town.

If you want green tree area eastern Texas will be a place to look. If you want hills and a nice small towen Boerne,Tx is really nice and in the hill country. You might need to think about work more tho and many small town don't offer much there.

I was born and raised in Texas. I lived there for 38 years and then moved here to Florida in 2005. Texas is an awesome place. Decide what kind of surroundings you want and I guarantee you that you will find it somewhere in Texas.
I do love it here in Florida, but I will say that Texas is wayyy friendlier. Hope that you enjoy it there.

My family and I are looking to relocate from MS to central TX. I've been reading posts on here about different areas and people are complaining about the drive from Canyon Lake. How far do you have to drive to get groceries/gas, etc.. And what can you tell me specifically about the schools?

post your question on your own thread on the San Antonio thread--Canyon Lake is closer to there than other cities and most posters know the area well...
would work out better

Wink Not a good idea

Think about it and rent a place for a few months before committing to an area! I moved from FL to TX three years ago. People are WAY nicer in Florida! People are always nice when you are visiting their states!! Living here is another story!
I have found that if you like FL you might not like TX. If you like TX you might not like FL. They are way too different! If I had to choose an area of Texas, it would be around Dallas. I am in San Antonio right now and like Dallas better. Good Luck!
