Good. Stay away and tell your fellow travelers to do the same.
Yes, please do!

One might look at other tragedies and say the same. Look at federal regulations that still happened.look at the federal highways system alone design to pass hazardous material thru middle of cities. No regulation needed or extra spending;its just plain ole stupid.

Im not saying go overboard like they do in California, but some more basic regulations are in order.
Explosions like those in West never happen anywhere else with tight governmental regulation?

How do you possibly begin to explain 41 years worth of violations?

As someone who has worked in environmental regulation for decades across many states, you statements are incorrect and parrot rhetoric that is 'distilled' strictly for political reasons. Texas regulations, when viewed as a whole (not tiny data bits), are stricter than all but CA. In some aspects, some of CAs are not more protective, just more cumbersome - lots of requirements that don't actual improve the environment. Texas' environmental issues are not a result of lax rules, but rather a volume issue - a MASSIVE amount of manufacturing, especially (but not limited to) petrochemical. You can live in Minnesota (not to pick on them, just a random state) and finger point at Texas' pollution, but you better stop using gasoline and plastic. Or at least pay double or triple for everything because it is imported.

Also, in politics and the general public perception, any increase in rules is viewed as good; however, that is not true on a large scale - if it costs 100 billion dollars to improve the environment by 1% (and we are getting well into the area of diminishing returns in the present day) while putting 5,000 people out of work and sending those manufacturing jobs to China, S. America, or elsewhere (where there environment decrease by 10 or 100 fold the improvement here), are we really doing anyone any favors? Yes, we saved one or two American lives that would have died from air or water pollution, maybe, but took years off the lived of people suffering from the stress of unemployment/low income and probably cost 100s of people somewhere else to die a decade early from the massive pollution create elsewhere.....

The West tragedy was due to safety issues (not environmental); at least gets the basics figured out.....

Oh, jeez, I just actually looked at the report - it ranks environmental data based solely on 'amount'. So, sure, we release more benzene into the air (a product of petrochemicals) than Delaware or Ne York or Indiana. How about we look at the pounds of benzene released PER BARREL refined. Might be somewhat meaningful then.

Did you know that Texas is probably No. 2 in the number of people that sneeze everyday? Maybe even number one! Dang, we need to figure out how Oklahoma is keeping their sneezes so low.... Oh, wait, maybe they have fewer noses?

That's a novel thought - "Texas is growing so fast" because all those silly folks want to live in a State with the "worst environment" of any State in the USA. YEP, that must be the reason Texas is leading the Nation in Jobs and opportunity. :roll eyes:

The Texas Legislative Study Group is a great list of the most Leftist activists in Texas - the top Texas State Senator of that list is Wendy Davis. "Texas is on the Brink" they keep crying ….. Brink of what?
Brink of becoming another Illinois or California? Not likely.

The good news about this "Texas is on the Brink" nonsense is that only the other Far Leftists ever read it or hear of it ….. with any luck at all, it will scare other Leftists from descending on Texas.

You are making a wise, wise decision to stay away.
