The Killeen - Temple - Fort Hood area has lots of hospitals. Killeen itself has two large hospitals and MANY doctors' offices and clinics. Temple has one huge hospital and several smaller hospitals / clinics... plus, there are nursing homes galore. I should know. I entertain at most of them.

While I wouldn't recommend living in Killeen, and I know that Temple also has its share of issues, you could live between the two cities and be okay. Between Killeen and Temple, there's a whole lot of NOTHING. Sure, there are towns like Belton, Harker Heights, and Nolanville... but they're rather compact towns and you could find plenty of places to live that are "out in the boonies" so that they're not affected by some of the problems known to plague the Killeen area in general.

Indeed there was a link, but it did little to provide information about the area per the OPs request.
