My salute to Andy and Mayberry is please tell me where in Texas can I find a town like Mayberry?

Maybe this is just fictional but before the rat race extended to the out to country and the suburban area

this life does not exit anymore.

There are places that look like it as I kinda informally search every time we take a road trip in Tx. The closest I have seen from appearances is Fayetteville Tx. Haven't spent any considerable time there yet.

If you're looking for a place with a complete absence of non-white people, as was depicted in the show, you won't find that in 2012 Texas. That likely is foundational to the town's other characteristics, such as being well-served by one barber shop and one restaurant.

My neighborhood in Dallas, Lakewood, is sometimes called "Mayberry with Money".

Mayberry was in North Carolina. Try the southeast. No such place exists in Texas.

Could Wimberley be the closet things to living in Mayberry.

I love Wimberley, and we were last there for the Christmas festival. I just didn't quite get that down home feel that you would get from a small town that isn't close to an urban area. There is a strong sense of community, however.

Again I loved it there, and even tried to convince the gf to move there (totally discounting the job thing), but I think a lot of people that are currently living there moved there for the same reason we have this thread. It felt a bit suburban. It was a little like driving out to remote Round Top and seeing big SUVs and Lexus crossovers parked at a wine bar in a town with population less than 100. Not bad, but not quite Mayberry.
