If you want a more country type town, then Coriscana is it. If you want a more metro type city town, then Sherman.
I prefer Corsicana. The town is compact and easy to get around. Most of the shopping and dinning is on 7th Ave. We do have a very nice Jr College. Housing is cheaper here than Sherman and so is the taxes. We do have a nice playhouse where musicals and plays are put on by local talent. The old Palace theater has been remodeled and hosts talent from all over the country. There is a nice quarter horse association here that has a large arena, both outside and inside.
The public schools have all been remodeled and the high school has a brand new stadium.
Right off Hwy 45 makes it easy to run to Dallas if you need anything the town does not have.
As far as crime goes? About the same as anywhere I believe. I do not feel I have to keep my doors locked during the day when I am home. As far as walking the streets at night, I would not do that anywhere.

The best part of living in Corsicana is location - location - location. Easy 1 hour ride to Dallas or Waco. One of the few existing outdoor drive-in theaters is just 30 minutes away. Navarro Mills lake ( for camping and picnics) is just 15 minutes away and Richland Chambers Lake ( for boating and fishing ) is about 20 minutes.
So if you want a country atmosphere with hometown attitude, Corsicana is the place.
