My husband just recently got out of college and found a job in Corsicana, Tx. We are currently renting in Ennis, Tx but are looking at buying our first home. I really love the older colonial and victorian homes and just recently found one i really like in Corsicana, but frankly the area itself looks questionable to me. The house is on 4th Ave and is in good shape .. but the area around it is a bit rundown (which at a glance seems to be a lot of the houses on several of the streets in this area) Can anyone tell me if there is a 'good' side of corsicana to move to? My husband and I have a 4 month old baby and just dont want to move somewhere without first knowing if it is a decent place to buy a home. Is 4th Avenue safe? Is that area of town falling apart? I would appreciate any and all input about this area as buying a home is an important decision. THANKS!

I don't live in Corsicana, but I drove through it a couple weeks ago, and have traveled through it several times. It seems that the downtown area is being revitalized, but as I remember, there seems to be better homes on the west side, on Hwy 31, near the mall, perhaps north of that. I would stay away from Hwy 287, and east of that area.

Default thanks

thanks I actually called the police department on a longshot to see what they could tell me about certain areas being better places to live there in town. Records there said that block where i was looking was a decent neighborhood with generally minor incidents (noise complaints etc). Crime wise ... the best place i was told was north of 7th - west of 15th. I'm about a block away from that if I buy that house.

Thanks for your advice though... not knowing anything about that area, I appreciate anything anyone can tell me

Hello, have you moved to Corsicana yet? Was wondering if you went ahead with the area you was looking at? My husband might have a job opportunity there, we have a 5 year old daughter, so I was needing info on the town. We would be moving from Mesquite Texas. Thanks for any and all information!
