Hi! I'm new to this forum. My family wants to move to Texas, hopefully this year. I need help on tips...we're thinking Sugar Land or Houston. Can someone please please orient me about Sugar Land. I heard they have a better school system compared to Houston area.

I am also an RN. I still have to look for a job. Does Sugar Land has hospitals in its area? Any tips on how to apply for a job while you are not "physically" in Texas yet?

Are RN jobs still marketable in Houston/Sugar Land? Does anybody know an average per hour rate for an experienced RN? Any recommendable hospitals in Sugar Land or Houston areas? I'm just worried that I won't be able to find a job.

Please help .

Thank you.

Sugar Land is a suburb of Houston. You might not find a job in the immediate suburb, but there are a LOT to choose from. Price point will dictate more of where you live. And just like any big school district like Houston, Dallas and Austin, schools tend to be higher rated in the suburbs.

SL is more in the Houston area realm, so a post in that forum might bring more replies and feedback.

I say Sugar Land is overrated and crowded, but no one listens. Good luck though!

When one is overly negative many times on here, it's no surprise.

Sugarland is a fairly upscale outlying subdivision of the Houston metro. Flat, humid, lots of historic oak trees.

Check the Work in Texas job board, choosing 'Browse Jobs'. You can register on the board and receive updates.

Here's what I found from a quick search...

Sugar Land is one of those places where the residents are mostly very happy living here and outsiders who visit for a few hours love to bash it for one random reason or another.
