Hi,

I am looking for a semi rural area to relocate. Would like to have clean air, good schools. low crime and medical nearby. I am looking for a slower paced lifestyle. I do have children and would like to be where there are families with good old-fashioned values. Anything like this available in this area. Oh also needs to be affordable 200,000-300,000 range. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm not sure that Sulphur Springs classifies as the "hill country"?

Junction, Johnson City, Burnet, and maybe Lampasas come to mind. Of course, the rub is that all the qualities you list as desires apply to about 98.2% of the population. Finding something "affordable" will be the tough part.

Best of luck.

I think with 200-300k u can live just about anywhere in the hill country with around 2-3 acres and a house. It starts at about 9-10k/acre in Fredericksburg area and then pans out to around 5k/acre when you move West ward.

Default Moving from mass to texas

I am too relocating to texas in the hill country area and have been doing lots of research. I have 2 kids 8 and 10, boy and girl and two dogs and a husband. we are looking to move from massachusetts to a new beginning in texas with good young families and easy life and much slower pace, but with things to do, etc. Any suggestions would be helpful. Looking for good schools, medical, affordable. Looking to rent first because we don't know the areas that well, figured we would rent then buy. Definately will need a pool, my summers here in boston,ma are nothing like they are in texas, i will need a pool to stand the heat, but away from the tornado areas, they scare the hell out of me and don't want to be any where near were they would be. Any suggestions would be helpful and much appreciated. Thanks ya'll

I suggest you consider Dripping Springs, a bit outside of Austin. Good schools, semi rural, and not too far from Austin if you want entertainment.

When I head up to N. Texas twice a year from the Corpus Christi area, I take the 281 route. Along the way, my favorite Hill Country spot would be Marble Falls. It is big enough for many convienences, and is growing, yet small enough to provide a more caring atmosphere. The hilly residential area on the south side of the city makes for quite a breathtaking view of the Colorado River, just to the north.
