I need some advise as I have a possible job opportunity in Waco, TX and am considering moving to that general area. I am currently in Southeast (Beaumont) Texas and wanted to know if my decision to get out of here to go to Waco would be worth it. I am married and have a child to consider as well. How comparable is it to the Southeast Texas region? Would I enjoy this area much better than the area I'm dealing with now?

I'm not positive, but I think Waco is a little larger than Beaumont. Waco isn't growing much so you still have the small town feel and slower pace. They have a very pretty lake there and plenty of parks with access. You still have a major freeway (I35) that will take you to Austin or Dallas if you need to find something in a "big city."

My parents recently moved there and my overall impression was very good. The weather can get nasty out there, though.

West Waco does have hills so the scenery will probably be much nicer.

It's really pretty around Lake Waco with the hills and trees and you'd be only 100 miles from both Dallas and Austin.

Waco is a great city. Don't listen to the ones who bash the city even though they've never visited nor lived here.

Code,

Waco is just fine. I've lived here all of my life. Just like any area, there are good parts of the city and not so good parts. Come on up and make a home here.
