I have been on jury duty one time but in another state.

News, Panel considers lifting exemptions for jury duty

Getting out of jury duty may soon not be as simple as saying you’ve had one too many drinks.

Among several proposed changes designed to make more people eligible for jury duty would be the elimination of a law that allows lawyers to exclude jurors for any recent intoxication.

I was called about a month after my youngest son was born. I told the court I was breast feeding and got out of it.

I went earlier this year, or was it last? The case was for a man regarding the rape of a young boy in Blount County. There was a conviction.

I was called for jury duty many times in my lifetime--------county,Federal, grand jury,-----but gave an explanation that serving was an undue hardship due to being a dairy farmer and having no one to replace me on the farm. I was granted an exemption in each case.

Now that I am retired, I wouldn't mind at all. (probably will never get selected now)

I've been on three juries, two murders and one burglary. I enjoyed learning out the system worked first-hand (as opposed to watching Perry Mason reruns), but I have no desire to serve on another jury.

I was called to jury duty in the early 1980's. It was a trial where the man was beat with a cowboy boot. He was in a coma during the trial. He finally died a few years after the trail. I will do my duty if called again. And everybody should also go. I couldn't imagine sitting on one these days. With the passive attitude of people in general today.

I was on a jury a few years ago and all of the men on the jury wanted to let a man who killed his girlfriend's 4-year old, get off scott free. It didn't happen....we found him guilty but I had to keep calling back the video of the crime scene and do a lot of talking to get him convicted. Turns out, he was physically abused as a child (something they don't tell you during the trial) and then all kinds of people come out of the woodwork as "character witnesses" to tell you why you you shouldn't give him the death penalty.

I loving being a part of the judicial process.
