I am a single male in my 30's and looking to transfer to a job in St. Pete. However, from what I have read on here the South Tampa area seems to have more of what I am looking for......younger, more single crowd, trendier restaurants, etc. whereas St. Pete seems to be more historic and family oriented. Is this assumption correct? Also, how would the commute from South Tampa to St. Pete be? I'm from outside DC so I know what a rough commute is like.
My son drives it, he says it is not bad, He lives in St Pete on 4th st and 75ave.
You got the Gandy Bridge to jump on and get to St Pete pretty fast. The earlier you leave in morning the better.
Downtown St. Pete and Old Northeast is nice in St. Pete as well(trendy, bohemian kind of, great restaurants, nice waterfront park system downtown). But yes, South Tampa has more to offer...do you know where in St. Pete you will be working?
And YES, it is absolutely realistic, many people do it.
Thanks for the advice, Tampaguy. I'll be working at the Vinoy Renaissance. Not sure which street it's on. I might be working some odd hours........10-7's, 11-8's, etc. so I would assume that would make the commute a bit easier. I just keep hearing that Tampa, especially South Tampa, is the place for me.
Hey there..I did 12 years with Marriott Intl, great company, is that who you will be working for? BEAUTIFUL hotel, right downtown St. Pete, waterfront on the Bay. I would also look into downtown St. Pete(wouldnt it be nice to walk or bike to work daily)..it is a very nice, waterfront center, lots of culture(museums, etc.) lots of festivals and concerts, artsy type people, laid back. You would be an easy ride(maybe 25-35 minutes) from South Tampa depending time of day. I live in South Tampa by the way.
