Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Indian Rocks Beach, Pass-a-Grille Beach....

Pass-a-Grille Beach has the coolest vibe, IMO... Dunedin has a great little downtown though...

Keep in mind budget is a factor in any beach town. Plus, many beach towns are overrun with tourists, snowbirds and retirees. It would help if gave us more specifics.

This is the Tampa Bay thread. If you are looking at "small beach towns", I don't think the city of Tampa qualifies. If you read the thread, the responses are addressing the greater Tampa Bay area and other places on the Gulf.

And what is a "ray"?

Neither Dunedin or Tarpon Springs have an attached beach.

Ray goes with bay. Or jay. As you banged away about Tampa being on the gulf is wrong. Not anywhere near the gulf.

Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island are basically in Dunedin. We go to the causeway a lot to watch the beautiful sunrises.

They are but it doesn't give Dunedin a "beach town vibe" which is what the OP is after.

Someone suggested Fort Myers Beach. You would need to step into a time capsule prior to 1980 for that small beach town feel. It used to be a great place but now it is overrun with tourists, snowbirds and then spring breakers.

Same with Anna Maria Island. The look of it is charming but it is a MADHOUSE of tourists nearly all year. The whole place is AirBnB now. So sad.....

I am afraid the ship has sailed for those charming small beach towns. Unless you have lot of money for Casey Key, Sanibel or Pine Island, etc.

Kyle you are usually spot on with your information but a "beach town" vibe is a tad subjective. A downtown right by the beach or a town that has a beach? Dunedin has Honeymoon and Caladesi. There's also a tiny beach somewhere else in town but I can't divulge the location! lol
