Oct is nothing like June thru Sept. The reverse west wind flow we are stuck in for 4 solid months starts to lose it's punch in late Sept as high pressure bridges over weak fronts and gives us a much drier northeast wind. Instead of highs around 96 and lows around 82 where i live, i start to see lower 70's by the 3rd week of Sept, as for rain it don't matter much since i never get much of any in the summer as it is.

As far as I am concerned the weather broke this week (or last?) when we got that first major cold front. It has felt drier, and when we start going from highs in the low 90s to highs in the high 80s, that's it, we are starting to get the first whiffs of why we all live here in the first place.

Major cold front? All that changed is we got northeast winds instead of the reverse west wind flow. That did help with dewpoints for two days.

Bring shorts, tees, flip flops. It won't be "cold" until long after you leave, if at all.

I wore shorts on xmas last year. IIRC, there were 3 or 4 days in total that I wore a jacket.

Weather in October is almost always nice and balmy, still warm (mid-80s or so but with nice breeze and lower humidity. Yes, pretty much shorts weather but very pleasant.

I lived in Lakeland - you will see the geese around Lake Hollingsworth, especially near the Country Club ( a beautiful building right out of old Hollywood!). Lake Morton is a swan sanctuary, and you will see many beautiful swans there. Lakeland is a very beautiful city, with many lakes, trees, parks and a restored vintage downtown. Lots and lots of interesting wildlife, nature and wonderful vintage architecture there.

LoL...

You must be new here

That was barely a cold front, definetly not major. It was drier for a couple days. I was out yesterday doing major landscaping work (felled and cut up 15 major pine trees 60+ foot tall) and I can assure you it was only slightly less humid and just as hot as it was when we were doing this in August.

It feels much better to me than a couple of weeks ago, that's all I am saying. It feels less humid and less hot. And 2 weeks ago the highs were 90-92. Now we are having highs of 87. Those 4 degrees make a major difference.
