Hi! I am moving to the tampa (clearwater, st. pete) area in october, and was wondering if anyone could suggest some neighborhoods for me.. I am 24 enjoy nightlife, and being able to walk/bike to restaurants, stores, the beach. I also like to go to concerts if you know of any venues. I'm hoping to find somewhere that is furnished, and having a hard time finding info online, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, also is there outside things to do in winter? Not sure how it is in winter. I don't care about schools, and I am a bartender. Thanks!!

Sounds like the Johns Pass area of southern Madeira Beach would fit the bill as there are plenty of bars, restaurants tourist activities lots of beach, party crowd,Casino Boats..
Cant help you much with the lodging search other than suggest looking in Madeira Beach or Treasure Island area.johns pass florida - Google Search

If you can sacrifice the "walk to the beach" for "quick drive to the beach," St. Pete. We've got Local 662, Jannus Live, State Theatre, Durty Nelly's, FUBAR, Vintage, and Emerald for local/national acts. And some of the coolest bars in the bay. Of course Tampa hosts the bigger acts at the Forum and Amphitheater.

I am also moving to St.Pete/Clearwater area in October. I will be 24 in Sept and Im also into the nightlife. After all of my researching I have found that downtown St.Pete is probably my best bet (I hear old NE is also nice area but to avoid most of SOUTHern St Pete because thats where most crime/ghettoness is at unless you are close by the water). near downtown st pete you would still be pretty close to all the beaches but get the bigger city feel with more bars/clubs near by. The gulf side of St. Pete is also very nice and has bars/beach bars (but they do not have any larger venues or clubs on the gulfside). Look in treasure island or madeira beach.

I plan to live in St. Pete for a few years so I can be close to the beaches but then plan to make my way more into downtwn or south tampa. (soho, channelside, and ybor are all huge party areas).
From what I hear, St. Pete's downtown is much larger and has more going on the dwntwn clearwater. If you have any questions or want to grab a drink in Oct then let me know!!lol

I am also moving down to Tampa in late Sept/October and have a few friends down there that have been an incredible source of knowledge for me... I usually begin with this forum (pretty helpful for filling in the blanks, or doing general searches so I dont ask the same questions that have been asked 100 times) and then asking my buddies for some real world insight as well- its a big deal moving blindly and relying on information from strangers, even though everyone here has great intentions.

That said, my friends are between 25-31 years old, so they are in tune with nightlife/music/restaurant scene etc... If you have any specific questions that can't be or aren't answered here, feel free to shoot me a private message on here and I'll get them to provide some insight. From my move to NC 3 years ago to this upcoming move to FL, I've found some of the answers here to be either not exactly specific enough, or from people outside of my age/social demographic and recommendations end up being "off" from what I would actually look for.

Hi there! I just wanted to know if you've had luck with finding a place to live yet? I'm moving with two roomates, one of them is a bartender and we plan on waiting tables. Are you going down without having a job first? I have full confidence that all three of us can find jobs in the service industry once we're down there but we're are having a VERY hard time finding a place to rent without having guarenteed income (we currently hold jobs in VA). Hope to hear about your progress, Thanks.
