Thank you for your replies. I agree it's a shame the woman beat her dog senseless but stupid actions are everywhere not just Pasco. I live in a city deemed by some of the news agencies to be in the top 20 most dangerous in the country and yet the only crime that I have had happen here was my car was stolen out of a transmission repair shop and it was there because of transmission problems. Stupid people exist everywhere. I live in a fairly safe area in this city and that is what I trying to find out about Pasco. Since I will be working in NE NPR area I do not want to be to far away such as Wesley Chapel. Any suggestions? Thank u.

It always amazes me when I see replies like this...

Question for you: What does to happen to you besides your car being stolen so that the nations top 20 most dangerous city earn its name? If something doesn't happen to you, it doesn't make the problem to go away. A lot of people give anecdotal evidence based on their personal experience to overblow the situation in either direction.

You seem to be waiting to read what you wanted to hear. You will be better off to go and check the stats for specific crime that you are concerned with from legit sources and make your decision. Otherwise, everything is hearsay.

Trinity is by far the only nice area of NPR that I would recommend to anyone. Gulf Harbors is also nice, though the homes there trend older than in Trinity. The only downside to Gulf Harbors is that it's close to US 19. The general rule of thumb with that area is that further from 19 you are, the better you will be.

Other than that, I think it's been covered pretty throughly that a large part of West Pasco is not a place you want to be, unless you are looking to be in the oxycodone or (insert your drug of choice here) business.

Just last month there was an article in the Times about how Pasco (followed by Pinellas) leads the state in the highest amount of drug overdoses, arrests, etc. I find that interesting - one would think that the problem would be worse in more densely populated places like Miami-Dade, but ironically they are near the bottom of the list.

That's just one instance. The drug problem in Pasco is well known and documented...you don't have to search hard to find some pretty sobering (no pun intended) statistics. Anyone who doesn't acknowledge that the drug problem in Pasco is huge is in denial. With drug issues come a litany of other problems are just not something you want to live amongst on purpose. For example, yesterday I had a good laugh when a friend who lives there told me that she spotted a sign that says "NO HOOKERS" outside of a day care. Apparently they have been congregating there at all times of the day and it's creating a disturbance. So that gives you a somewhat humorous (and sad at the same time) example of what I mean.

So...I would stick to Trinity if possible. I have some friends who bought there recently and really enjoy the area. There also used to be some nice developments there along Little Rd on the right before you hit Massachusetts or Rowan Rd...I can't recall the name...Hunter's something? I haven't been through there in a while but I seem to recall some decent houses in those little pockets.

There are many other threads that discuss many of the nicer communities. Around Little Rd and Hudson Ave, River Ridge, etc. I lived in Fairway Oaks which was very nice. There are many nice communities.
Do yourself a favor and check out all the threads and go check out the communities.

Don't blame it on losing friends, just admit that you over reacted and posted something that is untrue.
