I've been here in Brandon for nearly 3 months now and its sad to say, I havent been to the beach at all yet (although mainly because I'm pregnant and i dont have a maternity swimsuit).

Anyway, I dont know any of the good or secret beach spots to hit up. I'd prefer to stay within an hour, maybe 90 mins of brandon. Help?

Siesta Key, Florida Beach Information, Directions and Parking A beautiful huge beach where the kids go for spring break. Love this place! Beatiful clear warm calmer water.

Manatee Beach - Best Beaches of Southwest Florida closest more family oriented has a canteen and outside shower get there early to get good parking!

Welcome To Sunny Clearwater Beach Florida from the Clearwater Beach Chamber Of Commerce This is nice, with rougher waves, but much nicer IMHO than east coast shores. There is also Treasure Island South of St. Pete that allows drinking, for the parting crowd.

Siesta Key is one of my favorites.. if you choose to go to Pinellas, try Indain Rocks or Redington Shores or maybe Treasure Island.. the beches are much less crowded and have more of a quaint feel... i miss going to Treasure Island... always went and got a grouper sandwich in Johns Pass on the way home...

Just got here this week and on the bridge to Clearwater I saw people on the "beach" there. Is that a decent spot?

The beach along the Causeway? It's okay, I guess, but don't spend your vacation on that beach.

Embrace the pregnant belly! I've been doing it. My favorite beach spot is right across from Candy Kitchen on Madiera Beach.

Are any of those spots less crowded than others? I know that's a bit of a stretch though

Agree with them both.

We like Anna Maria Island also.
