Hi
I am a high school teacher from Australia. I am qualified to teach Physics/Chemistry and Maths. My husband has got a job in Syracause University and we are moving to Syracause in sep-10.
Could someone please guide me about the teaching registration process in New York state?
Do I have to get registered to teach?
Are there any exams I have to take for registration? How can I prepare for the exams?

Can I start the process now or do i have to wait till I arrive?

I will appreciate any information about the process.

I jknow a professor at SU from Austrailia, from my old playgroup. I'll forward this to her... and to my friend's husband, who taught in the same area as you but is just about to start the thesis for his doctorate.

You could search this website for regulations or to see what transfers in terms of teaching requirements: http://www.nysed.gov/
