^Yes, the rates are high, but when looking at overall housing costs, it is still more affordable than many areas. Check out the NAHB Housing Opportunity Index and look at the Affordability by Rank list. Syracuse and other Upstate areas usually rank high in relation to Median Home Price and Median Family Income, even when accounting for property taxes.
