Gosh, it seems like all of you are right. I'll have to go to the Post-Dispatch's archives and try to get the latest on Ballpark Village. It would seem like there are going to be an awful lot of very unhappy Missouri taxpayers that helped make the new Busch Stadium a reality. All the artists' renditions of Ballpark Village made it look like it was going to be a terrific place with a very 21st century look and feel to it, giving downtown St. Louis a great renaissance (and it's not bad to begin with except for the Muddy Pit the OP mentions very accurately!).

Hope this doesn't degenerate into a morass of litigation.

Apparently things went even further south when Centene Corporation bailed in March 2008 on placing their corporate headquarters in Ballpark Village. Post-Dispatch article: STLtoday - DeWitt: Centene deal was close, but 'we never got to the finish line' (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/stories.nsf/story/E6E473C7DCEDC85F862574180051FE62?OpenDocument - broken link)

Those involved still insist that BPV is going to happen, but no one will say when (or if) construction is set to start...which is usually a bad sign...

We're gonna look so dumb and pathetic when the games gets here and nothing is built. There's gonna be a truckton of people looking for eateries and bars near the stadium and there'll be nothing there. Broadway Oyster Bar can only hold so many post=game revelers.

I made my first trip to new Busch three weeks ago, and I was a little let down by the lack of the ballpark village. There's only so much to do within the stadium. The stadium does looks fantastic, the team is playing well (saw Ankiel's awesome diving catch into the wall), and the fans filled the place.. the support is there, so finish the original plan!

Default City, Cordish near Ballpark Village deal

City, Cordish near Ballpark Village deal - St. Louis Business Journal:

Only 2 years late. Yay!

But honestly, I'll believe it when I actually see some construction. You can talk until you're blue in the face, but I'm sick of seeing the pit. I hope this goes through, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Default What's going on with Ballpark Village

I was in town last weekend and it's still a dirt patch. It looks bad.

I don't really have time to dig around the internet for hours, so could somebody tell me what the latest is? Has Cordish said anything about it? Has it been in the paper recently?

It would be nice to see this come out of the ground soon.
