Hello, I'm looking for some advice on rentals in West County, as I should be hearing back regarding a job in Chesterfield soon.

I'm not really looking to live in Chesterfield. We know some people who have recommended Maryland Heights, and I've also done some looking in Ballwin/Ellisville area. Maryland Heights seems to have some reasonable prices and should be pretty accessible drive to anywhere I would want to go.

Does anyone have any recommendations on places to live in these areas, or how to find rentals? I haven't had too much success with craigslist, padmapper, zillow search.

Currently we're in Springfield, so anything in St. Louis is going to be significantly more expensive for us. As a comparison, the current place we have is a two story, 2 bed, 1 1/2 bath townhome (multiple units that are one long building, neighbors next to you but no one above/below) and our rent is only $550 (though the place is in pretty shoddy condition). We don't have any kids to worry about, but we do need a place that allows pets. Ideally I'm looking for between 700-750.

It would be great to find somewhere that is not a large apartment community (although I am open to that). In Springfield there are lots of property management companies and landlords and it is pretty easy to find places that aren't an apartment community, but in St. Louis I really haven't been able to find that. I've seen a lot of places on Craigslist that looked nice, but seemed like they were too good to be true and probably scams.

Thanks for the help!

I just moved to the area and I work in Maryland Heights. The area is home to plenty of apartments, if you want more quiet look to places like St. Charles. Do your research, go on sites like apartmentratings.com, zillow.com, etc...apartments in Maryland Heights fits your budget but they've gone down hill, as they now accept section 8. There is one in Maryland Heights that is pretty pricey 1xxx+. One for more in your price range would be Heather Ridge Apartments. Really read the reviews, they should put you in the right position. The only other place that I would say to look at is Chesterfield Apts., they have remodeled 2 br and 1 br for rent, and they allow pets. They have a cheaper non-remodeled 2br and 1br, so you could get in there, plus it would be an easy commute to work.

There are some nice apartments in Wildwood, but I don't know if they would be in your budget. But Wildwood is a good location for most locations in Chesterfield. In the other direction, Maryland Heights would be cheaper, but still a good location. But I would choose Wildwood over Maryland Heights, myself.
