My response in regards to OyCrumbler's post regarding St. Louis Infrastructure garnered more comments on the photos I posted than what I wrote So, with that in mind, here is some more Vintage St. Louis Love from around the web!

The last images I'm unsure of the location- so anybody with wisdom, be sure to chime in!

Grand Ave (I want all of those pretty lights back!)

Grand in Midtown yet again (1944)

Cass Ave & 10th, 1956

12th (now Tucker Blvd) in the 1950s

Our Population sign in the 1950s. Ah how times have changed!

Highway 40 in Hi-Pointe

St. Louis in the 1960s

Olive Blvd toward Grand

Military aircraft over St. Louis in 1951. Do my eyes deceive me or is that the Admiral down there?

Looking down Chestnut St, 1940

Chestnut St again!

Downtown on Market St, 1943

North Grand.

Grand Avenue Again

Wedding of the Waters (outside Union Station, but facing away from Union Station) on Market Street

Union Station... with Trains! Far nicer than that acky old Mall. Don't you think?

Demolition of Mill Creek Valley, 1956

And now for the mystery locations!!

Downtown STL- but where?

St. Louis Somewhere- Anybody Know Where?

Downtown Somewhere?

Armistice Day Parade, 1943- where Downtown?

Love these old photos! There's one of me and my dad at Lambert Field back in about 1959 or so that definitely qualifies as "vintage"!

LOVE this photo too. McDonnell Aircraft Co. FH-1 Phantom...likely built right down the street at what is now Boeing.

I'm surprised people can actually tell what those old pictures are. They're cool, but the city was almost unrecognizable back then.

Found another one. This is Washington Ave looking West at 8th Street...the photo was taken essentially where the convention center entrance currently stands.

The intersection

My attempt to capture the camera position

The building just West of the "W*rner Hilton *** Clothing" store.

The building in the last image is what gave it away. It's essentially the only "untouched" building in the photo. The shape of the windows, and the number of windows was unique, along with the awning. It was a hotel in the original photo, and remains parts of the Renaissance Hotel complex which takes up almost all the buildings from foreground to background on the South side of Washington Ave. Unfortunately the buildings directly West of there seem to have been removed to construct the Renaissance Hotel Grand Ballrooms at some point.

Found another one.

Looking South on 4th Street, just North of Olive St. The building on the right is now the Hilton Hotel, and still stands, same is true for the old bank just South of the Hilton...The Crown Plaza, Hyatt, and Mansion house are all missing however. The Old Courthouse is unfortunately just slightly out of view in the photo, or it'd have given the location away.

The Boston Public Library has a vintage Missouri Postcard collection on Flickr. About 40 of them are of the St. Louis area. The St. Louis ones start about halfway through the second page when on thumbnail view.

Good catch Flynavy. I was going to say that small building in the center of the picture is now Schupp (ad agency).
