Excellent choice. I just spun around in my chair to look at the Hyatt. Also, there is a Ruth's Chris restaurant there. I hope the foliage is turning on the trees under the Arch when you are here. And hopefully the Cards will still be playing in October! Downtown is ALIVE when they are in post-season.

You can't beat the Italian restaurants at The Hill for food. My personal favorite is Zia's. And you can't come to St Louis without stopping at Pappy's Smokehouse. I recommend coming at 10:45 because they open at 11 and the line gets long fast.

Great choice! The Hyatt at the Arch has been renovated within the last few years (since Hyatt bought it in 2008 from Adam's Mark) so I think you'll love it! If the Cardinals are still playing (fingers crossed!) like Book Lover said, try to catch a home game if you can at Busch Stadium, or at least hit up an area sports bar to watch a match, the energy is amazing even if you're not a fan/ don't understand baseball (I even enjoyed it even though I don't get it!)

thanks, i'd love to see the cardinals, love to take in a game, i understand they had a star player called Mike Channon way back, is that right. As a Brit i follow football(soccer). At my hometown club Southampton we had a footballer of the same name who also played for England many times, sorry for delay in replying,i get so busy!!

^Ours is Mike Shannon actually. He still calls the Cards games on the radio and owns a (very pricey) restaurant. He's as old-school St. Louis as they come, and he's quite beloved around these parts.

lovegrove65, I'm not sure of your age or interests, but I'd also recommend checking out City Museum if you have some time to spare downtown. It's one of St. Louis' best attractions, in my opinion. It's geared towards both adults and children, but to get the full experience, there is some climbing/crawling involved! In a nutshell, it's an old factory warehouse that's been converted into a fun, interactive museum, with lots to do and see. You could easily spend the day in there. Just a suggestion, if you're looking to build an itinerary! People of all ages seem to love the place.

North of downtown is basically a transitional neighborhood between northside and downtown. Be mildly cautious

Yes. That's a very wealthy area.

Good call on the hotel.

Check out the Eads Bridge. I've taken photographs from the Eads on several occasions. Also, the Malcolm Martin Memorial Park has a great observation deck for photographing the skyline: BEST view of the Gateway Arch!
