it's similar to walking with a boom box on your shoulder and kinda adding a "vibe" to your stroll...least that's my definition.

The official boundaries of the CWE are Kingshighway and Union to the west, Delmar to the north, I-64 to the South, and Vandeventer to the east. The heart of the neighborhood is Euclid Ave, which runs north and south from Forest Park Ave up to Delmar. Anywhere within that area is good, though the farther south of Delmar the better. DON'T go north of Delmar under any circumstances, as it gets pretty ghetto pretty quick. A lot of apartment listings say "CWE" even though they aren't in that area, so be sure and check them on a map to make sure they actually are in the CWE.

It's the difference to me between being technically walkable versus comfortably or normally walkable. I can actually walk to a ton of stuff in my mom's neighborhood in St. Peters -- even a bar! -- but when you're the only one walking it's hard to say the place feels walkable. The Central West End is as walkable as St. Louis gets and many of your fellow neighbors will relish that lifestyle as well -- hence a walkable vibe.
