I have no idea if age has anything to do with this. But in the last 3-4 years, a number of high school and even middle school athletes have collapsed and died during practice, games or scrimmages. It's not just one sport. It's been football, lacrosse, tennis, hockey, etc. And it's not just MA though I'm most aware of the situations here.
Is it because they are young? Do they have underlying health issues? Should the physical requirements be more stringent? A more in-depth physical? Should the equipment issue be examined to see if these young athletes are properly protected?
As a Mom of kids who play football, hockey and lacrosse, I worry about this!
Yes a high school football player in a nearby town died because of a hit
I think it has a lot to do with kid's diets these days
Mickey D's, candy, pizza, ice cream, soda, beer if your kid is like some kids I knew, smoking, drugs, school cafeteria food,
Bad diet means bad health means weaker bodies
Agreed.
