254 one time 20+ years ago during a night out with friends and lots of adult beverages, it was a miraculous drunken fluke and there was no cheating, the lanes had electronic scoring.

Thanks. I'm not a pro bowler either but I had been on leagues since I was a kid. I've had several good instructors over the years give me good advice. Like shaking hands, good follow thru, don't rush (guilty on many occasions tho), proper weight of ball, and all that. Yes, sometimes I choke (get nervous) after getting 6 or 7 strikes in a row.
the only time i went bowling, about a hundred years ago, the best i did after several games was a 212, though most game i rolled an average of about 150ish.
