Who is the greatest of all time? I thought this is a good article.

Federer, Nadal or Djokovic: who is the Greatest of All Time?

Do you agree with its assessment?

Federer.

Nadal and Djokovic rely too much on physical game when compared to Federer. Federer is pure ability.

This is not ice skating. Tennis is all about getting the job done. It's not an art, but a sport.

Even in ice skating, getting the job done matters too.

Federer would still be ahead on most scores, as this article does point out.
Even the most devout Djoker fan would not believe that 17 Slams is achievable, and Nadal has declined considerably in the last 12 months, and unlikely will challenge it either.

Default Suffering from power tennis

Federer clearly outclasses the other two. This is the era of power tennis - big powerful shots blasted from the baseline. The baseliners roll off the assembly line like Ford Model Ts, defensive and boring all of their games are very similar. In this era of power tennis Federer cuts right across the grain with his beautiful all-court game.

Take Federer to a different era -perhaps the 1980s) when the racquets did not produce so much pace & power and Federer's brilliance is multiplied. This era is the worst possible time for a player with a game like Federer. Take Federer to another era and Federer is even more brilliant, more of a standout and that much more extraordinary.

Well, on the other hand, take Djokovic and Nadal to another era, they will blast all the competitions away with their power baseline shots.

I've been watching tennis since the 1970's, and the only era they would thrive in is the current one.

Tennis was a serve & volley game almost exclusively until about 15 years ago. Nadal would not do well in previous era's. Djokovic maybe slightly better.

The sport has changed enormously since the days of Borg & McEnroe. And even since Sampras. These days it's possible to win slams without a net game. Back then you couldn't win without it.

BS!!! None of the old timers could handle the hard hitting, quick moving, etc. by Djokovic and Nadal.

Back to original topic, IF Djokovic add 5 more grand slams, and Nadal and Federer add no more grand slams, and if Djokovic leads the head-to-head, and ATP titles, would the GOAT discussion be very divided?

Sorry, but as usual you display a total lack of understanding of the sport. The ONLY reason players hit the ball so hard now is the modern racquets & strings used today.

Navratilova says she can play shots now that she couldn't play when she was winning slams, purely because of racquet & string technology

Nadal's topspin is impossible to hit with an old wooden racquet. Players can use shots today that were not playable 30 years ago. Nobody was hitting 180km/h forehands in the 1970's because the equipment used would not allow it.

Tennis was all about serve & volley then. Nadal only comes to the net to shake hands at the end of the match.

Do you seriously imagine that players wouldn't have used a baseline game if it could beat a serve & volley player? You should learn more about the history and development of tennis. Then you'd realize how good guys like McEnroe really were.

Of the current 'big 4' only Federer has a true all court game.
