what kind of tests is usually done to determine if someone qualifies for knee surgery, will x rays show if there is grinding of the patella? I already see a doctor but he said no to surgery. His reason is because I'm too old for it (31) but physical therapy only helped a little with walking, that's it. It actually caused me pain. I didn't even have pain on my knees before I ever went there, now I have it every day and I know it's due to the physical activities they told me to do which helped with walking. This is causing me a lot of depression and I just stay in bed for months now during the weekend. I don't know what to do. I can't even do the physical activities I used to do like jump rope because it causes pain and I can't even run or even walk, there is popping and pain. I embarrass myself every single day at work when not walking correctly. What the hell am I supposed to do if my doctor and if all the doctors will say no to surgery and physical therapy isn't working? I already tried knee straps and it helps a little but it's very uncomfortable. Please help. My girlfriend broke up with me because of my knee problems, this is what she told me. I could understand her not wanting to be seen with a limping idiot in public. What are my options?
