Who do you think is the most annoying announcers in sports whether past or present? I guess Joe Buck would count but many people say Chris Berman or even Shannon Sharpe.

Howard Cosell.
John Sterling NYY announcer with his "The Yankeees win, th-aaa Yank-eees win"
Myron Cope Pittsburgh Steelers fame (obvious inspiration for comedian Gilbert Gottfreid) with the terrible shrill voice
Jim Donovan a Cleveland Brown announcer.
Tim McCarver in the 90s because he sounded like President Bill Clinton - that twinge of sing songy delivery with a hint of always sort of chuckling to himself.

Shannon Sharpe can be annoying but he is more unintentionally funny due to his slight speech impediment and speaking style - he makes me laugh.

Howard Cosell could be over the top pretentious but still, I liked him. They tell an old story about him where one day the phone rang at the gym where Muhammed Ali was training/sparring; when told it was Cosell on the phone the reply from Ali was "Did he call collect?"

These days there are plenty of unlikable sorts doing broadcasts and Chris Berman is one of the obnoxious ones. I don't listen to sports talk radio so I'm probably missing out on more obnoxious types.

The WaPo did a piece on ESPN's Skip Bayless saying that he "may be the most hated man in sports."

Max Kellerman - the most biased boxing commentator ever. To point where he is corrupt.

Dan Dierdorf - doesn't have a clue. Glad he's retiring after this season.

Phil Simms - boooooring.

John Grudin - everyone is great! Network "Yes man".

Troy Aikman - another biased lunkhead.

Chris Berman - not funny.

I never understood the charge that Troy Aikman was biased. I'm a Redskins fan and he would always go overboard on Clinton Portis.

I'm not a big fan or Reggie Miller on TV. Talks too much about himself and shows biased towards and against certain teams.

I am currently watching NBA-TV broadcast of the Lakers game, so it is the Lakers announcers. Wow, they are awful. The play by play guy is not great and gets way too excited for typical plays, especially when the Lakers are down 10. The color guy just says the most obvious things and his lisp is a bit annoying to listen to on TV. For a team like the Lakers I expect a lot more.

Any time he calls a Giants game this guy can't find it in himself to say anything good, at least not without it sounding like a backhanded compliment.

Well there isn't really much going well for the Giants at this point... Before anybody gets upset, I'm a Texans fan so I know how tough it is to be frustrated while watching my team.
