The oldest sport in Olympic history was reinstated today! Frankly it's a shame that it could even be considered by the IOC to be pulled.

Wrestling is the only sport with almost all countries represented.

We're back!

awesome!

wrestling is a true international sport. The dream of Olympic gold keeps a lot of youths around the world out of trouble, and it is a staple of the Olympic games. I can't believe we almost lost wrestling. What will be next? Track or swimming?

I'm glad to hear this. I couldn't believe they were thinking of ending it and keeping something ridiculous like the trampoline event.

Good news, although only a handful of countries seem to do well at it and gain medals from it.
Prefer this any day to amateur boxing.

No, track and swimming are safe because RICH countries like those sports.

If you read the reasoning, wrestling is popular and heavily dominated by typically poorer countries that don't buy up lots of event tickets and draw big advertiser revenue dollars.

That's it, the utter bottom line....what sports will make them $$$. I mean holy cow, if you need to add a popular sport to bring in cash then do it but it doesn't cost much extra to include wrestling.

Heck, I'd watch Sarcastaball (Southpark reference) if it meant keeping wrestling in the olympics.
