To me, this is the very best of the best: Football, which has to now to America's sport get underway in a couple of days, with the wonderful college season starting and the pros a few days away. Then, to add to the excitement the number 2 American sport, in my view anyway is wrapping up. If you team is a contender every game now counts and my team is: Go Dodgers!!! Followed by Pirates and St Louis.

In a month or so it will be all sports week (or two) with all four sports (hockey, baseball, football, and basketball) in action.

The Dodgers are due.

It's been a quarter century since their last title.
In the past 32 years, they've won exactly one title.
In the past 48 years they've won exactly two tiles.

for advid sports fans I am sure the 4 sport season will be exciting, but for many of us: hockey is almost nothing and the basketball season is way too long.

yes, the Dodgers and the Pirates are due. Obviously I am such a die hard Dodger fan, I am esthetic this season and totally blown away. This reminds me of 1959, the year our daughter was born and the year they surprised the world...

I'm more excited about basketball. Easily the sport to watch and play. Go Lakers! Go Clippers!

I agree, it's usually in the beginning or the end of summer when the action starts and sports fans have plenty to choose from (athletics competitions, soccer, basketball as well as swimming events).

I have to disagree...

Spring is the best time for sports.

NFL= The draft;
NBA= Playoffs;
NHL= Playoffs...nothing is better than the NHL playoffs;
MLB= Spring training and the beginning of the regular season;
NCAAF= Spring game;
NCAA Basketball= March Madness;
Football/Soccer= UEFA Knockout Stage ends and there are the Finals;

Winter is a very close second place*, then autumn, and finally summer is about a mile behind autumn and many miles behind the others.

*NHL, NBA, and most European soccer leagues in season; NFL in playoffs; NCAAF bowl games; NCAA basketball in regular season
