Oops, looks like I was thinking about Worth while I was typing down Fort.

I hope Fort never finds out.

I gotta say, that's becoming a very common typo, it seems.

Major League sports growth will be in Soccer.

FC Dallas is nearing sellout crowds now. Lock in your season tickets now.

I do not see any new sports teams in the DFW area.

It is hard to separate reality from a "wishful thinking" proposition. It would be fun to have teams in Dallas and Fort Worth in all these leagues and the great rivalry that would build. But TV market share, far moreso than game attendance is what drives the big leagues into deciding what team goes where.

For the NFL, as long as the huge LA area has no team and San Antonio has a large base when Austin is added into it and a fairly nice stadium to boot, you aren't going to see a second team coming to DFW. The NFL would be the LAST to come into the metroplex, IMHO.

Las Vegas is the largest metro area without a professional team. Somebody will head there someday. With the success of the Thunder in OKC, I would see the NFL heading there before they even considered a second team in DFW.

But it is fun to pretend. The only one I would care to see is a Dallas NL team playing downtown or uptown or in Fair Park and the Rangers move to Fort Worth in a downtown park there.

.... I get the feeling that some of you are taking this a bit TOO serious.

If any of the above happens (...with the exception of maybe a couple of the choices) it will be a long way off. Another decade at the very least.

Yeah, but you're missing the point of the question.

It's asking which could happen FIRST.

I seriously doubt we'll ever seen any of these options besides the AFL and WNBA happen in real life, but if I had to choose, I'd put a MLB club in downtown Dallas and let the Rangers identify with Ft. Worth/Arlington. If the Dallas club were in the NL, it'd work like a Giants/A's or Cubs/White Sox scenario where you have two teams in opposite leagues representing distinct geographical areas in the same metro area. If the team were in AL, they could be rivals with the Rangers similar to the Cubs and Brewers (Chicago and Milwaukee's suburbs are contiguous much like Dallas-Ft. Worth, only with a state border down the middle).

I don't think the DFW/Metroplex area is a viable two team market in any pro sport, but the sport for which it would be the most viable IMO is football.
