The love affair with Madden remains one of the world's greatest mysteries. John Madden has NEVER offered anything even slightly insightful to a telecast and is prone to alot of mistakes, as well as missing important aspects to plays and strategy. Even Vitale offers more insightful commenatry to a game than does Madden: and that is saying quite a bit to make that proclamation.

I will give Madden something. He's so clueless that he can be funny.
i deffenetly think you need announcers especially in baseball when theres so much nothing going on my favorite announcer is Jerry Remy he does redsox games on nesn hes hillarius.
How about Dandy Don Meredith and the late great Howard Cosell those two use to argue with other in the announcers booth, while Frank Gifford did his own thing on Monday Night Football.
I sure would hate a no hitter baseball game without an announcer. Now, my husband turns off the sound anyway so he can read and just glance up now and then to check out the score.
I need the announcer so that I don't have to remember what numbers belong to what players.
And we MUST have announcers at horse races. They get as excited as I do!
