Hog roasts, dances, parades and reunions will abound this summer as several prairie towns celebrate an anniversary. We recommend joining in the fun!

Wheel Jam is a pretty good time. My first one was last year. I helped out with the brake competition and the biker games. I'm not a big auto guy, but it still was interesting.
Here are some others I'd recommend.
The Great Aberdeen Pig Out This is also fun in Aberdeen. Looks like they are charging now though, when it used to be free.
Leroy: Wheel Jam: I am hoping to take my 4 yr old grandson. Do you remember what the parking setup was like? On fairgrounds or off? I know he will walk in, it's the "I'm to tired, carry me" @ the end of the "fun", that I'm worried about! (bring wagon?)

ps..thanks, for adding more events!
Parking is pretty informal, not like the fair. But by Saturday evening, the place was packed. We had just bought an old camper, so we took a camping space behind the administration building. I did some set up where the trucker's were having their evening dinner, and it took me ten minutes to drive from the building (across from Dairy Queen) to my camping spot. So yeah, if you are early you can get a pretty good spot, but I'd bring the wagon too.
I guess it also depends on what you want to see. The jake brake competition is that back street on the east end of the grounds. If you are going to that, just park in the east lots (you don't have to pay). The lot was never full, more people come later in the day. You can park on the grounds though, it is just a matter of whether or not there is a space near what you want to see.
Yea, they used to have our Summer Solstice Festival in Hitchcock park. I don't know what happened, but it got moved and it sounds like it hasn't been much of a hit now. We always went when it was in the park. Oh my!!! They're having it the same date as the County surplus sale and the PetRescue rummage sale.
Our group was performing there last year. I worked in the morning, and when I got to the place, there was a couple on stage and one girl watching. And a sound guy. But like I said, the weather was bad. Cold, windy, rainy. We (and a couple other groups) played in a little building, kind of in a back porch type of deal. Hopefully it can catch on.
Are any of those towns near Custer? We are going out for vacation the end of JUne.
