I saw the darnest thing last week while sitting out in the woods. Was sitting along side a creek, a squirrel had made his way out onto a limb hanging just inches over the stream. He was munching on an acorn it looked like, his tail just touching the water. When all of a sudden a large brown trout erupted from the surface of the water striking the squirrels tail. The squirrel surprised by this ended up in the stream but safely made it to shore.
Then not 5 minutes later I observed that brown trout carefully nudging another acorn up onto that same limb.....
A cowboy appeared before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. 'Have you ever done anything of particular merit?' St. Peter asked.
'Well, I can think of one thing,' the cowboy offered.
'On a trip to the Black Hills out in South Dakota , I came upon a gang of bikers, who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most tattooed biker and smacked him in the face ... Kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground. I yelled, 'Now, back off or I’ll kick the slop out of all of you!'
Through the years I've put up with South Dakota winters. I've put up with the heat of the summer. I've put up with good times and bad. I've put up with good neighbors and bad.
But right now, I regretfully say, I must put up with another Bud Light. Anybody want to joing me?
Nomad, stop the tempting!! Tomorrow I'll fire up the grill... Burgers, brats, corn on the cob, pasta salad... YUM.
Also, remember the meaning of Memorial Day... It is the unofficial start of summer, but it also holds a special meaning in our history!
