Hi,

My husband and I are considering moving from Chicago to the Beaufort/Bluffton area, but we don't know if is a good area to raise a family. There are a lot of mixed reviews. We don't want to move to an area that is the same as where we are now; high cost of living and insane property taxes.

Thanks so much for your help.

KT

Property taxes are quite low, house prices are falling.

Schools aren't the best supposedly but I have no direct knowledge of this.

My boyfriend's sister family lives here!! I love it so much!! It's a great place to raise children, lower cost of living, and it's a very quiet and peaceful neigborhood! By the way, I live in Miami wich I really hate (traffic, people sucks, low salary and super high cost of living) I came for the weekend to Bluffton and I wish to never go back to Miami's hole!!

Default Moving to Beaufort Too with 4 and 8 year old and Hubby

Moving from Ohio to Beaufort with two small children. Help us decide please on the following neighborhoods, we need all the info we can get! Thanks so much!

Newpoint, Habersham, Coosaw Point, Cat Island. We are trying to determine safety, neighborhood harmony, child friendly, pool, great real estate value that is retainable. We are looking to spend no more than $600,000

Mrs oz is telling me about the various places...

Newpoint is very family oriented and safe,no community pool however(we don't think) and should retain it's value.

Habersham is oriented towards older(50's or so) people but still has couples with children,is a 'community' with it's own little fancy stores but no grocery stores and is kind of in a different location than the rest.

Coosaw Point is further down Ladys Island than Newpoint,it is again a family place we think they have a clubhouse and a pool as well.

Cat Island is older and families, has a pool,is down a winding little road and right now there is MAJOR construction on the main road you would need to take to get there...that should last a couple of years(building a new bridge and accompanying roadwork across Beaufort River).

All should be under $600k in this market.

Take a look at Battery Point, nice homes,on the marsh has a pool and is much closer to town and everything. Also prices are a little lower.
