My life has been materially improved by the new 385/85 interchange. I probably get an extra 1 hour a week with my family instead of sitting in traffic due to that new interchange.

I support raising the sales tax at certain shopping centers and areas like Main St , Haywood Mall, Woodruff, Augusta Rd in Greenville. It seems like the people who are unhappy with the roads also spend a lot of money shopping.

That was planned before the tax hike, the hike started in 2017. Construction began in 2016.

Project funding ($242M) sources are as follows:

Federal Highway Administration (70%)
South Carolina Infrastructure Bank (10%) (roughly $24M)
GPATS (10%)
Act 98 of 2013 (10%)
